Analysis of the spatial distribution of educational services in the city of Zuwara using geographic information system (GIS)

Abstract

The Libyan cities face a many problems and challenges, including the poor distribution of public services in general and educational services in particular, and the specifically such of adherence to planning standards in their distribution to keep up with population growth, urban expansion, and the population's needs for these services.

This study addresses the spatial planning of educational services in the city of Zuwara using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) techniques. The main objective of this study is to analyze the current spatial distribution of educational services, their efficiency, and their suitability to spatial planning standards that meet the needs of the local community in Zuwara.

The results of the analysis have shown that the educational services in the study area, suffer from poor distribution and inadequacy, leading to a strain on the services.
