Linguistic research has witnessed an amazing development in our time, as theories and trends concerned with language have multiplied, and from that we find the textual approach, which is characterized by its direction towards studying the text as the major structure of the language, as it transcends the boundaries of the language, and although it is a Western-origin approach, it has Arabic features and roots in its principles and procedures. This textual approach is textual cohesion, as it means identifying aspects of cohesion within texts, and it has an important and fundamental aspect that goes beyond the limits of linking parts of a single sentence to researching the means that achieve cohesion between a group of cohesive sentences, and this is only achieved through lexical cohesion mechanisms. In view of the large number of tools, it is sufficient that we limited our research to studying the mechanisms of lexical cohesion of the text through the two tools: repetition and lexical collocation on the chosen blog, which is: Surat Al-Ghashiya. This is the researcher’s tendency to search in the field of text linguistics, and her desire to apply the data of this science to Surat Al-Ghashiya as a model, so this came about. The research is entitled “Mechanisms of lexical cohesion of the text through repetition and lexical collocation, an applied study on Surat Al-Ghashiya.”
The aim of the study was to highlight the linguistic phenomena in this noble surah, which would allow presenting a systematic study. Which makes it a fertile field for study. We also followed this descriptive and analytical approach in our research, and this is what was imposed by the nature of the blog, Surat Al-Ghashiya, and the topic. Our research started from a main problem: How are the mechanisms of lexical cohesion of the text in Surat Al-Ghashiya achieved through the tools of repetition and lexical collocation.
