Poetics of paratext-a first step to reassure the field- Moftah Al-Alwani.Abstract
The research examined the Poetics of paratext in Diwan "a first step to reassure the field" through its cover, and traces in it the poet’s ability to combine and travel between the poetics of the text and the paratext, and how he made the cover’s paratext and the main title, visual palette, and colors, a discourse parallel to the text.
The study inferred the meanings generated from the paratextual shifting semantic images in order to monitor the processes of their formation in the recipient’s horizon, the correspondence between the text (the body) and (the paratext), and the constant familiarity between them by celebrating the presence of the cover plate with its many images on the ground of the text, and how the paratext directed its semantic horizon towards the worlds of the text, recording its existential formula, proving his being in it as a semiotic signifier, and the center for discovering its own experience, and its journey between reality and unreality, between the achieved and the hoped-for, between the process of significance and the perceptions of the text of the book. The research was also paved by tracing the term “paratext” through the book of “Thresholds” by Gerard Genette.
