Leadership Skills between Physical Education Teachers and Other Science Teachers

Abstract

ABSTRACT

This research aimed to identify the level of leadership behaviors among physical education teachers compared to teachers of other sciences at the Al-Zahra Education Office in Al-Jafara region, and to reveal the differences between them in a number of dimensions of leadership behavior. The researchers adopted the descriptive approach using the survey method, where the Leadership Behavior Scale was applied to a random sample of (250) male and female teachers from different disciplines in the preparatory stage.

The dimensions of leadership behavior in the research were distributed on five main axes: sense of responsibility, communication with others, interest in students, cooperative professional activity, and problem solving. The results showed that the level of leadership behaviors among physical education teachers came to a "very high" degree, where the axis of cooperative professional activity topped the first rank, followed by attention to students, then communication with others, problem solving, and finally the sense of responsibility, all of which are high degrees.

The results also showed that there is a disparity in the level of leadership behaviors between physical education teachers and teachers of other sciences due to the nature of the specialization, as teaching physical education requires field interaction, teamwork, and direct leadership of educational situations, while the theoretical classroom nature predominates the teaching of other sciences. The research concluded the importance of developing leadership behaviors among teachers in their various disciplines, through training programs, and supporting the school environment that stimulates effective educational leadership.
