Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to identify the most common sports injuries, their incidence rates, locations, severity levels, and timing of occurrence among handball players. The researchers employed a descriptive approach on a purposive sample of (30) first-team players from (Al-Ahly Benghazi and Al-Hilal) clubs during the 2023/2024 sports season, representing (75%) of the total targeted players from both clubs, which enhances the accuracy and representativeness of the findings. The results revealed that the most common injuries occur in the muscles, joints, and tendons, specifically in the shoulder, knee, and wrist areas, with sprains, muscle strains, dislocations, and muscle tears leading the list. Furthermore, the findings indicated that injury rates increase during competition compared to training. Consequently, the researchers recommend the necessity of designing preventive training programs to strengthen vital joints, intensifying coordination and proper tackling drills, and activating the role of medical staff to monitor physical loads and mitigate the risks of fatigue-related injuries during official matches.
