Abstract

The study concluded the vital and direct role of ports in linking maritime trade relations with European countries and exchanging incoming and outgoing goods, as the diversity of commercial goods was evident from historical documents, and Tripoli was also the seat of the mint and maritime agencies.


Here, the researcher was keen to clarify the role played by the rulers of the western province of Tripoli in developing the economy through trade by concluding political agreements that allowed work Mutual trade between them and many European countries. The study also showed that the Ottoman governors in Tripoli minted a special currency that facilitated commercial transactions and contributed to achieving economic independence
