Abstract

Bioethics is a new moral science that emerged to establish a balance between scientific and technological developments and ethical values. Applied ethics, particularly medical ethics, is currently facing growing crises that traditional moral frameworks are no longer sufficient to address in light of the dominance of modern technology. This has led to contemporary human concern about the misuse of scientific progress and its deviation from serving human interests.

The contemporary philosopher Jürgen Habermas is considered one of the most prominent thinkers who addressed issues of bioethics within his critical philosophy, adopting a communicative framework based on dialogue, due to his concern about the consequences of scientific developments in the field of genetic engineering.

This research aims to clarify Habermas’s stance on bioethics as a link between science and morality. It raises questions about the limits of human intervention in human nature amid current transformations and discusses the idea of dialogue as a foundation for regulating scientific practices, ensuring that decisions concerning the future of humankind are not merely technical decisions detached from shared human values.
