The Effect of an Interval Training Program on Selected Physical Abilities of Under-11 Football Players in the City of Misurata

ABSTRACT
This study aimed to examine the effect of an interval training program on the development of selected physical abilities among youth football players under the age of 11 (U11) in the city of Misurata. The researchers employed an experimental research design to achieve the objectives of the study. The research sample consisted of 15 players from the Free Zone Football Academy in Misurata (U11), representing 75% of the total population of players in this age category at the academy. The pre-tests and initial measurements were conducted on November 1, 2025, according to the academy’s training schedule at the Free Zone Football Academy field in Misurata.
The proposed training program was implemented over a period of three months, with a training frequency of three sessions per week. Appropriate statistical methods were applied to analyze the collected data.The results indicated significant improvements in the post-test measurements of key physical fitness components of the youth football players (U11). The findings also revealed that the interval training program positively contributed to the development of several physical performance variables, including upper-body strength, flexibility, agility, explosive leg power, and speed.
The study concluded that the interval training program is an effective method for improving the physical performance of youth football players, emphasizing the importance of structured and scientifically designed training programs in the physical preparation of young athletes.Keywords: Interval Training, Physical Abilities, Youth Football, Training Program, U11 Players, Physical Fitness.
