Solar Radiation And Investment Opportunities As A Sustainable Resource For Energy Production In Libya
Main Article Content
Abstract
Libya is strategically positioned to benefit from solar energy as one of the most prominent sources of renewable energy, due to its environmental and economic efficiency. Solar energy contributes to reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering energy costs in the long run, in addition to creating new investment opportunities in clean technologies. Applications of solar energy include electricity generation, heating, and water desalination, which enhance sustainable development and improve the quality of life. Libya has significant potential in the field of solar energy due to its geographical location within the solar belt, characterized by high average solar radiation and long hours of sunshine throughout the year. This paper reviews future solar energy projects in Libya, the challenges and opportunities associated with them, including the need for substantial investments to maximize the utilization of these resources. The paper also discusses the impact of geographical location on solar radiation distribution, focusing on the city of Sabha as a model for studying solar insolation and solar radiation in Libya. The paper highlights the factors affecting the intensity of radiation and solar radiation concentration devices, aiding in understanding how to effectively exploit this energy in various .applications
