Article on the concepts of the philosophy of language in Islamic philosophical thought

Abstract

to whether Muslim philosophers research topics in the philosophy of language or not, and if the answer is yes, what are the topics of this research? This is by considering the philosophy of language as an independent research that took the most specialized direction in contemporary philosophy to the extent that it became an independent branch with its own direction, schools, supporters, and method. However, after assuming the point of view that says: “Names have no value, and names matter to us,” it becomes clear after a summary. Topics that It was researched by Muslim scholars and philosophers through the approach of linguistic analysis, such as studies related to discussions revolving around: “Language and its logic, the origin and origin of language, the relationship between pronunciation and meaning, and does a pronunciation have one specific meaning or does it have different uses and contexts? And how to distinguish between meaningless expressions and those that do not.” What does it have? The nature of the term meaning and its difference from the term connotation. Does the meaning have a concept that settles in the mind due to abstraction, or is the meaning of the word determined by its reference to something specific?

The topic of synonymy, homonym, metaphor and truth. It has been shown that Muslim philosophers have made an effort that should not be overlooked, nor should its presentation for analysis and study be overlooked for the possibility of benefiting from it. The subject of the philosophy of language is not limited to contemporary philosophy only for a simple reason represented in the connection of the circles of human thought, and the intellectual similarity in raising a question about a certain topic, and creativity and innovation are not limited to one mind rather than another, or one era rather than another; a nation may have the conditions that require the establishment of a study from the studies, so it grows and matures. Hence, the article discusses the hypothesis of raising the topics of  the philosophy of language in Islamic philosophical thought.
