Abstract

This research aims to identify the importance of knowledge management in enriching scientific research, revealing its role in achieving sustainable development, and understanding the literature on knowledge management and its relationship to sustainable development. It also seeks to review studies that address knowledge management, scientific research, and sustainable development, as well as examine reports from the United Nations and other organizations relevant to the research topic.

The research adopts a descriptive methodology to achieve its objectives and answer the questions posed. It links knowledge management with rigorous scientific research based on organized knowledge and its role in achieving sustainable development through intellectual enrichment and the review of previous studies (both direct and indirect) related to the research topic.

The findings indicate a weakness in the availability of the requirements for implementing knowledge management in Libyan universities, despite its importance in enriching scientific research. Knowledge management is considered the most significant indicator through which the progress of countries, organizations, and scientific and research institutions can be measured, as well as their ability to contribute effectively to sustainable development.

The research recommends adopting a national strategy that supports an executive plan to ensure a transition to a knowledge-based society to achieve economic and social growth and sustainable development. Additionally, it suggests establishing partnerships between universities, research and study centers, state institutions, and ministries to exchange information and scientific research results, as well as knowledge management to avoid failures, human errors, and natural disasters, thereby achieving development and sustainability
