Abstract
This study deals with the connotations of the use of color in Khaled Zoghbiya’s poetry, under the title (The connotation of colors in Khaled Zoghbiya’s poetry, selected examples from his complete poetry collection)
Colors are among the things that a person is aware of, as he is a creature naturally created to appreciate beauty, and the ability that colors give him to differentiate between things and the extent of a person’s ability to use them in the different and varied areas of his life. He used them in various aspects of his daily life until it became part of his traditions and heritage.
The appearance of colors in Khaled Zoghbiya’s poetry was clear, and their types were numerous, including (red, green, black, white, and yellow).
The goal of this study is to reveal the significance of colors in Libyan poetry, the extent of the poet’s ability to express his lived reality through colors, and how to use them according to what is compatible with the chosen color, and the reflection of this on the poet’s experiences that he went through.
One of the most important results reached by the study is that the poet was able to employ different types of colors in a distinctive way, and color is considered one of the most important elements in shaping the literary work and drawing its artistic images by linking the meaning of color to the context of the poetic text.
