Repository and Self-Archiving Policy

The University of Zawia Journal of Medical Sciences (UZJMS‎) supports open access, the dissemination of scientific knowledge, and the long-term preservation of scholarly research.

The journal permits and encourages authors to deposit and make publicly available their manuscripts in institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories, preprint servers, or other repositories of their choice.

Authors retain copyright to their work and may self-archive the submitted, accepted, and published versions of their manuscripts without an embargo period.

  1. Submitted Version (Preprint)

Authors are permitted to deposit the original submitted version of their manuscript (before peer review) in institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories, preprint servers, or personal academic websites.

  • Deposit permitted: Yes
  • Embargo period: None
  • Conditions: Authors should clearly identify the manuscript as a preprint that has not undergone peer review. If the manuscript is subsequently published in UZJMS, authors are encouraged to update the repository record with a citation and link to the final published article.
  1. Accepted Version (Author Accepted Manuscript)

Authors are permitted to deposit the final accepted manuscript following peer review and editorial acceptance but before the journal's final copyediting, typesetting, and publication.

  • Deposit permitted: Yes
  • Embargo period: None
  • Conditions: Authors may deposit the accepted manuscript immediately upon acceptance. Once the article is published, the repository record should include the complete citation and a link to the published Version of Record, preferably using its Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
  1. Published Version (Version of Record)

Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit the final published version of their articles, including the publisher-formatted PDF, in institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories, and other repositories of their choice.

  • Deposit permitted: Yes
  • Embargo period: None
  • Conditions: The published version must retain the original citation, copyright information, license statement, and DOI. The source of publication in UZJMS must be properly acknowledged.

Published articles are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), in accordance with the journal's Copyright and Licensing Policy.

  1. Repository Selection

Authors may choose any appropriate repository for depositing their work, including:

  • Institutional repositories operated by universities or research institutions.
  • Subject-specific or disciplinary repositories.
  • Recognized preprint servers.
  • National or international open-access repositories.

There are no geographical restrictions on repository selection.

  1. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the copyright to their articles published in UZJMS.

Self-archiving is permitted without requesting additional permission from the journal, provided that the original publication is appropriately acknowledged and applicable copyright and licensing conditions are respected.

  1. Embargo Policy

UZJMS does not impose any embargo period on the self-archiving of submitted, accepted, or published manuscript versions.

Authors may make their work openly accessible through their chosen repositories in accordance with the conditions outlined above.
