Abstract

The study aims to reveal the reasons that led to the exacerbation of illegal migration to and through Libya during the period 2011-2020 and its resulting effects, while trying to propose some strategies and mechanisms to confront it by addressing a problem centered around illegal migration to and through Libya and the political, economic, social and security impacts that it has had by using Descriptive analytical method.

The study concluded that illegal immigration is a global phenomenon, driven by economic, political, security, social and cultural conditions, and contributed to its increase across Libya, the deteriorating security situation and the long borders with the spread of weapons and the deterioration of the economic situation, and with Libyan youth mixing with immigrants and being informed of the tragic conditions that immigrants suffer from. However, some of them took the risk and immigrated, hoping that migration in this way would be a solution to many of the problems they face.
