Abstract

This research aims to study the impact of mobile phone usage on student achievement levels in higher education from the perspective of students at the Faculty of Economics, Zawia. To achieve this goal, the researcher adopted a descriptive-analytical approach, with a sample of 200 male and female students selected randomly. A questionnaire was developed for this purpose, and 200 questionnaires were distributed, out of which 166 were retrieved during the academic year 2023-2024.

The results of the study showed that mobile phone usage has health, behavioral, psychological, and social effects, in addition to its significant positive impact on students' academic achievement levels from their perspective. The findings also revealed no statistically significant differences at the significance level (α ≤ 0.05) among the sample members regarding the health, behavioral, psychological, social, and positive effects based on gender, with only a slight inclination favoring males. However, clear differences were found in students' opinions regarding the negative and positive impacts according to age groups, with the results favoring the age groups of 19-21 years and 25 years and above."
